Mrs Joanne Boyd

Head of Year 7 & 8, Lead for Teacher Training & Teacher of English

Mrs Boyd is a senior leader who has established an outstanding reputation for her work in schools across the South, as a Head of History and as a Deputy Head Teacher. Her roles have included overseeing teaching and learning, the gifted and talented provision, and student leadership.

Mrs Boyd has a degree in History and English from Liverpool University. She is an accomplished dancer, and has a passion for teaching. After obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Education she went on to lead a highly successful History department in an Essex school graded ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Experience

Mrs Boyd has led successful History departments in three previous schools and in 2001 she was invited to work on a two year project to develop the teaching of History at Cambridge University.

She has also taught Dance as a second subject, winning national recognition when her pupils won regional and national dance competitions on three occasions.
