On Monday 20th March, year 8 Flavi visited City of Portsmouth College for the day for an insight into further education and how their GCSE options can support their future study plans.

First, pupils had a tour of the Tangier Road Sixth Form campus, where they were surprised by the broad range of A level courses in areas they were less familiar with, such as Law, Politics and Film Studies. They were also particularly impressed with the A Level Art pieces on display.

Pupils then participated in quizzes and activities to help them identify their strengths and interests when it comes to education, and the sorts of pathways they might naturally enjoy at post-16.

The group then travelled to the Highbury campus, and pupils were very impressed with the spaciousness and relaxed atmosphere. They looked at the hair and beauty salon and a floristry class in action, before climbing 174 steps to the top of the Highbury Tower to visit COPC’s brand new T-Level Healthcare department – complete with a real ward and hi-tech dummies!

Thank you to the staff at COPC for a very insightful and enjoyable day.
