The art department arranged for our 2023 cohort to visit Ventnor seafront in their mentor groups, as a part of this term’s seascape project. Pupils have been learning about compositional guidelines and took the opportunity to try them when taking their seascape photographs, which they will use when they sit their end of year assessment. Year 7 especially enjoyed looking for interesting angles for their photographs and it was lovely to see how inventive and creative they could be.

Pupils then sketched different areas of the coast including the harbour, coastline and the waves splashing over the rocks. Once they had tried some sketching they also created some beautiful watercolour paintings on the beach. 

Year 7 really enjoyed the experience of creating their artwork outside and we definitely have some budding photographers and artists within the cohort.’
