On Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March year 7 and 8 pupils visited the Mary Rose Museum at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, as part of their Cultural Capital Days.

Year 8’s spent Wednesday and year 7’s spent Thursday visiting the museum, to enhance and extend their historical and local cultural knowledge. Upon arrival at the museum, the groups were met by a lady in full costume and character, who toured them through an immersive experience, guided by King Henry VIII. His projected form taught pupils about his flagship and led them into the glass-walled museum where they could see artefacts from the ship. The impressive glass walls also meant that pupils got to walk around and see every angle of the Mary Rose’s wreckage.

Pupils from both year groups said how much they enjoyed this visit and felt that they had learnt a lot about both the Mary Rose and King Henry VIII.

We are proud of our pupils’ behaviour over the two days and are very pleased to have been able to organise these visits for them.
