Year 10 Industry Insights – Mountbatten Hospice

On Thursday our year 10s started their Industry Insight visits, giving them the opportunity to visit a local business to learn about what they do, the kinds of jobs that exist within the business and what working there looks like. These visits form an important part of our Futures and Careers Programme, and we are very grateful to have been invited to visit a number of local businesses.

This week the group were lucky enough to spend the afternoon at Mountbatten Hospice, where they spent time learning about the many different roles that make up the hospice team, Communication Skills, and Infection Control procedures. They were given tasks to complete, ranging from paper aeroplane making (to challenge their communication skills) to UV hand washing inspections! The afternoon ended with a tour of the site, allowing the pupils to get a real feel for the hospice and all the incredible work they do.

The pupils were all brilliantly engaged, asked some great questions, and even earned themselves a certificate each for attending.

If you would be interested in hosting a group in the future, please do take a look at our Careers pages on the TIFS website, where you can find the relevant contact details. We are always keen to establish new industry links!
