At the start of term, the Music Department re-launched Free Sound, the TIFS orchestra. There are over 50 musicians in the collective, with each year group represented.

The first two pieces practiced were ‘Rolling Deep’ and ‘First Journeys’ and everyone has made an amazing start. The Free Sound members are hoping to appear in their own concert soon and hope to see you there – watch this space!

With musicians in mind, you may have seen that a former TIFS pupil – under the stage name of Cameron Rossi – opened the Isle of Wight Jazz Weekend at Mountbatten recently with fellow jazz degree musicians in the Cameron Rossi Quartet. It was lovely to see Cameron continuing to perform live music for others to enjoy and we are sure this will inspire our younger pupils who are now starting to get to grips with their chosen instruments.
