The Elderberries – Music scholar donation

Before half term, four members of ‘The Elderberries’ visited the school to present a donation cheque to our music scholars.

The group, who sing 1960’s songs, took part in a variety show ‘Memories of Barry Brooke’ along with ‘Totland Old Tymers’ and members of Voxpop Choir. All were friends of Barry Brooke (a local man who had a wonderful talent for singing and performed in many shows and concerts). They agreed that they would like all proceeds from the show to be donated to the school and used to fund some of our Music Scholarships in his memory.

The total amount raised exceeded all expectations and ‘The Elderberries’ were pleased to be able to hand over the cheque for £1,600, which will will be used to finance four students for a whole year with a personal tutor in an instrument of their choice.
