On a bitterly cold Thursday evening The Island Free School year 7 rugby team played Christ the King College in a floodlit game hosted by The Isle of Wight Rugby club.

The Free school started well scoring an early try after a well worked ruck in centre field left space for Max Henley to score down the left wing.

Christ the King responded well with a period of sustained pressure five metres from the Free School try line. Only repeated last ditch tackles from all 12 Free School players kept Christ the King out.

Despite the driving snow Elliott Stewart released the pressure as he powered through several tackles to score a fantastic solo try in the right corner.

The increasingly cold weather made handling difficult for the rest of the game with dropped catches leading to several missed opportunities for the Free School to stretch the lead.

Final score two tries to nil.
