On Wednesday 25th January, the Royal Navy’s Outreach Team visited TIFS to deliver some practical sessions to Year 9.

Pupils participated in a range of activities based on leadership, communication and teamwork. They also worked together in groups to build towers which used STEM skills. They demonstrated how these transferable skills are important for many careers in a variety of industries, as well as building confidence within a group.

Alongside these activities, the team delivered a presentation to pupils about what the Royal Navy is, the wide array of roles and education opportunities within the Navy (from policing to chefs, apprenticeships to university degrees). They also highlighted careers which support the Ministry of Defence as a civilian, such as scientists and software engineers. Pupils had some good questions, and it was an insightful afternoon.
