Today, The Island Free School walked to the Holy Trinity church to attend a Remembrance day service led by Gill Chaloner. After a wonderful introduction to the service, we sang ‘Jerusalem’ which was followed by Megan R’s beautiful rendition of ‘Keep the home fires burning’.
Our school choir then gave us a wonderful compilation of ‘Long way to Tipperary / Pack up your troubles’ followed with a reading from Constance P, Riley H, Curtis P and Maya H with ‘A poem for Remembrance day’. The school then sang ‘Abide with me’ together, before a second reading by Rowan B, Thomas W and Madeline L with an extract from ‘The Fallen’.
The service was closed with a musical recital by Lydia B, Shanti M and Ted H before a reading from the Bible and introduction to the silence.
Thank you to the whole school community for helping to make the event very special.
