Today, The Island Free School was visited by an internationally renowned concert pianist, Mr Richard Meyrick. Forty pupils were treated to a “Piano Masterclass” with Richard, including our GCSE music classes and pianists from other year groups. He performed for us and also led a workshop where pupils were given the opportunity to perform a piece of music to be critiqued by Richard. Polly W, Caitlin C, Hannah T, Hallam S, Cameron T and Alfie P bravely stepped up to the mark, and all benefitted greatly from his unique insights and experience. The session was a fantastic opportunity for all our pianists to learn some great tips on how to improve their technique and performance, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
