For the second year running we have been fortunate enough to take part in The National Theatre’s Connections Festival. This is a UK wide festival that sees companies of young performers stage brand new pieces of writing.

This year we performed the play ‘Replica’ written by Titas Halder, an Island born writer.

The play sees a group of school children go on a school trip. Whilst on the trip something happens and they are led to believe that new girl Sam has been replaced, but by what and by who, no one knows. Exploring what it means to be human, this play was especially challenging in its non-chronological structure and ambiguous nature.

Pupils delivered two performances of the play; one at our venue in school before transferring the play to The MAST Studios in Southampton.

The cast was made up of 12 very talented Yr10 and 11 pupils and they delivered performances that were simply out of this world. Their individual performances were sensational but their power as a group of actors together, displayed an ability far beyond their years. The cast were ably supported by two technical pupils in Yr11.

This has been a fantastic experience for all involved and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive and a testament to the talent on stage. Well done to all involved and thank you for all of the support during this project.
