Huge congratulations are in order for Louis S and Carter H, both in year 9, for competing in the British Rowing Junior Championship at the weekend. There they represented Shanklin & Sandown Rowing Club in the Men’s Junior Under 14 Double Sculls.
They raced against 26 other crews from across the country, achieving the fastest qualifying time placing them in the ‘A’ final. In the final they raced over 1000 metres against the 5 other fastest crews, crossing the line in 3mins 55.44 seconds.
Both pupils won the gold medal and title of British Champions. The pair finished 2 full seconds ahead of Exeter Rowing Club, who placed 2nd, and 5 seconds ahead of Windsor Boys School, who took the bronze.
Well done Louis and Carter, we could not be prouder!
