Mr William Sherman

Teacher of English

Mr Sherman grew up in South West London. He gained A-Levels in English, Philosophy and Sociology before completing a BA in English Literature at Kingston University.

Mr Sherman has longstanding links to the Isle of Wight which go back to his childhood. He is thrilled to have relocated to the island for a better quality of life for him and his young family.

Mr Sherman is passionate about providing the best educational outcomes possible for all pupils. He strongly believes that it is the responsibility of teachers to get to know their pupils as individuals and instil in them an enjoyment of learning to bring the best out in them.

Education
  • BA in English Literature
  • PGCE in Secondary English

Experience

Mr Sherman completed his PGCE in Secondary English at King’s College London. Between finishing university and studying for his PGCE Mr Sherman worked in a number of different roles within education. He lived in Vietnam for five years where he worked as an English teacher in a high achieving Australian international sixth form college in Ho Chi Minh City, where students studied the Australian equivalent of A-Levels.

My Goals

I aim to help pupils progress smoothly through their time at school and develop real life skills to help them when it is time to move on to the next stage in their lives. I also want to help them make as much progress as possible in English and instil in them an enjoyment of the subject which I hope will serve them well throughout their time at school and beyond.
