On Thursday 29th September, all pupils in Year 10 attended a Maritime Careers Fair at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, where they had the opportunity to speak to a diverse group of professionals within the industry. Pupils were fascinated by the breadth of careers and training options available, from designing and producing lifejackets, to catering on a cruise ship. Exhibitors included The Classic Boat Museum, BAE Systems, Royal Navy, UKSA, Red Funnel and many, many more.

Pupils had an enjoyable time at the event, and this has led to some exciting conversations around their careers and future goals. Pupils also started to recognise how the context of their environment has an impact on career opportunities, and that the maritime industry plays a key role within our Island’s workforce.
