Lord Wandsworth College Invitational Festival

On Saturday 4th February, the Year 8 Girls’ Netball Team and Year 8 Boys’ Hockey Team took part in a festival at Lord Wandsworth College, Hook. Pupils had an early start, meeting at 5.30am, but were excited for their fixtures. Both the Netball and Hockey teams took part in a round robin tournament against an array of independent schools. It was a fantastic opportunity to compete with schools of such a high caliber and expose pupils to this level of competitive sport.

Congratulations to Bluebell for being voted most improved player and Polly as player of the tournament by their team. Miss Sheen said:

“I am extremely proud of the team work they displayed and the progression of skill from their first game to the last. It is so exciting to see we can beat such well renowned schools and the girls were such wonderful representatives of our school. My most improved player was Flo H and my player of the match was Flo W.”

The boys’ hockey team played in the Tier 2 league and acquitted themselves admirably. The standard of hockey was also good and the team responded by playing some great flowing, attacking hockey. Although the results might not have gone their way in every game, Mr Milton added that:

“the commitment and enthusiasm was evident and the lessons learnt are invaluable for future festivals and tournaments, best of luck now for the Hampshire Festival”.
