Isle of Wight Rugby League

On Wednesday, 13 boys from Years 7 and 8 competed in the first round of the Isle of Wight Rugby League at Wootton recreation ground. The boys’ first game was a tough match against Cowes Enterprise College – a team that we split results with last year. The Island Free School started slowly, finding themselves at a 1-0 disadvantage. However some brilliant rugby then followed, with some excellent play resulting in a 4-2 win for TIFS. Our second game was a really tough contest against Ryde School, where the boys defended valiantly but ended up losing the game 3-0. The final game of the day was against Sandown Bay Academy, where the boys played some great team rugby. TIFS also scored some excellent individual tries, and finally came out on top winning 7-1. All in all, an excellent start to the league for TIFS boys’ rugby team!
