The Island Schools golf Championship 2022 took place on Monday 4th July at Ventnor Golf Club.

Players from TIFS and Ryde School took to the course under windy conditions with a range of handicaps participating. Our experienced players, Sam C, Amelia G, and Dan A went out first, scoring points off every hole. Our middle players Anya C, Ellie W, Max S and Sonnie V started at the back of the course and ensured steady play was the focus of their strategy – again scoring points on all holes. Our beginner players Billy W, Herbie C-H, Sam M and Jaydon H followed suit, they handled the struggles of the course well and were excellent at motivating each other and showing great sportsmanship.

At the end of the round the scores came in and it was a sea of TIFS smiles. In Division 1 (handicaps less than 28) 1st place was Amelia G with 23 points, 2nd place was Dan A with 21 points and in 3rd place was James (Ryde) with 16 points. In Division 2 (handicaps over 28), 1st place was Anya C with 37 points, 2nd place was Ellie W with 26 points and in 3rd place with 23 points was Max S.

Excellent play was shown by all pupils, it was great to see so many young golfers out on the course.
