A group of 11 Year 8 pupils attended an event at INTECH Science Centre yesterday Monday 7th March. The event was aimed at encouraging girls to look at pursuing careers in the Science, Technology and Engineering industries. There were a number of activities throughout the day, including: robotics, Brisstlebots and RC cars. Each activity was run by female Ambassadors who already work in the STEM industries and the pupils were also given time to talk to the ladies to find out what jobs they carry out in their place of work and how they trained.

In the afternoon the groups were given a talk from a female engineer who had just designed and marketed her own product called the boot claw and the day ended with a tour through space in the country’s largest Planetarium.
