Music & Drama Festival: Instrument Classes

A Fabulous Day For TIFS Musicians!

Yesterday proved to be a tremendously successful day for our instrumentalists at the festival. In the morning, Lily G in Year 9 and Lily G in Year 8 played well on their violins, and Jarrison S and Rachel L reached 1st and 2nd place respectively in the acoustic guitar class. Lizzie G won 1st place in the woodwind beginners class, closely followed by Amy H and Ethan B in 2nd and 3rd. In the advanced woodwind class, Cameron T placed 2nd with Daisy U in 3rd, and Isabelle W won the recorder class grade 7 – 8. The brass class (2 years tuition or less) was won by Leo W, followed by Sophie T and Arthur R in joint 2nd. The more advanced brass class was won by Nathan S-B, closely followed by Ted H and Isobelle W. The Island Free School brass group won their class over Ryde School and the Jazz Ensemble closed the afternoon on a high, winning the coveted Festival Trophy.

A successful day for TIFS was topped off with an evening of wins from our talented pianists. Caitlin C and Hannah T walked away with 1st place each for their classes. Nadia B finished top in a heavily contested class, winning a well-deserved distinction grade. There were notable performances from Linnaea B, Bethany B, Daisy U, Cameron T, Hallam S and Ethan B. Well done everyone!
