Fishbourne Roman Palace

On Monday 8th February our Year 8 students went on a whole year group trip to the Roman Palace at Fishbourne, near Chichester. This was to compliment their Latin book ii studies which are centred around the palace itself and how Roman life was both there and in Egypt.

The pupils had opportunities to look closely at mosaics, including the famous mosaic featuring Cupid riding a dolphin. They also toured the gardens, which have been restored to their former glory, participated in workshops featuring a study on the Roman Legions, weapons and amour, looked around the museum and spent time in the Discovery Centre studying artifacts from the excavation itself. Staff and pupils had a great outing.

Rachelle B. said “it was a fun day and I learnt a lot!”.
