Canny Scientists make huge launch to success

During STEM Enrichment, Year 10 pupils were tasked with a CANSAT project, where they were working with the European Space Agency. They were tasked with designing a can using a 3d printer, programming various computer chips to measure factors such as Velocity, Temperature, Magnetism and Altitude, as well as making a parachute.

We were one of 7 schools to compete in this competition and our pupils made it to the regional launch at Devizes, where their can was placed in a rocket which was launched 1000 feet to collect data. Our can was the only one to survive the landing which is a huge achievement!

The team throughout, competed with sixth form colleges, exceeded their own expectations and the judges’, worked exceptionally well and showed excellent teamwork skills.

Each pupil represented the school fantastically, well done to all involved!
