Mr Mark Williams

Senior Leader – Pupil Outcomes & Head of Mathematics

Mr Williams attended grammar school where he achieved A levels in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Further Mathematics. He went on to study Thermodynamics at Cambridge University, before working as a chief engineer in Africa for ten years.

Mr Williams returned to England after the birth of his first child and completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Mathematics.

Before joining The Island Free School, he worked as a successful Head of Mathematics at a secondary school. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys hill walking, canoeing and computer programming.

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Thermodynamics): Upper second class

  • PGCE Mathematics: Qualified

Experience

Mr Williams spent 10 years as a Mathematics teacher in the state sector and works tirelessly to ensure that every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

He has an outstanding reputation amongst his colleagues for his clarity of purpose and the support he offers members of his department.
