On Monday 6th December, a number of our Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils took part in the Mock Trial competition. Unfortunately, the competition could not go ahead in the way it normally would but Medina College kindly offered to host the competition at their theatre, for our pupils.
The Island Free School took on the role of Defence Counsel and Defence Witnesses along with one pupil taking on the role of Usher and the remainder of pupils being part of the Jury. Despite a verdict of ‘guilty’ being found, the team were praised by organisers Tim and Nick for their fantastic public speaking skills, ability to conduct an argument and for taking on some challenging roles.
It was also a brilliant opportunity for pupils to speak with a retired judge and barrister about careers in the legal profession.
Mrs Suter was fantastically proud of how well the pupils took on this challenge.
