On Monday 19th June, the Year 8 girls’ cricket A-Team travelled to St Cross Cricket Ground in Winchester to compete in the Hampshire Outdoor Soft Ball Cricket Final. The team built on their sterling performances from previous fixtures, and went into the tournament with confidence and a good strategy.
In tremendously hot weather, the team faced Toynbee School first, who batted first. TIFS secured a comfortable win in this first match, with 124-0, and then moved on to play Springfield School. In this match, TIFS played fantastically despite the heat becoming unbearable, and came through with a score of 95-1 to 47-6 thanks to an impressive catch by Bailey. Finally, TIFS played against Kings’ School – a very strong team whom the girls managed to beat with a score of 95-0.
At the end of the tournament, TIFS were presented with the Hampshire Trophy as well as a medal each. It was a brilliant day resulting in a very well-deserved win – well done girls!
