On Thursday 9th February, the whole of Year 8 visited Fishbourne Roman Palace in Chichester as part of their Latin curriculum. The site was discovered in 1960, and pupils had a very interesting day viewing the palace’s intricate mosaic floors and walking around Roman-style gardens. They also attended a workshop lead by the museum staff, who demonstrated how different battle items were used in the Roman army. Pupils also had a close look at some real Roman artefacts and some even had the opportunity to model armour! In the museum, pupils saw statues and skeletons recovered from the original site; some items were nearly 2000 years old! Year 8 learnt a lot from their long yet exciting day.
