Friday 21st May saw our 2016 cohort come together to celebrate their time at TIFS, and say goodbye to fellow pupils and staff. In an emotional yet humbling day, the year group were played in to their Leavers Assembly by our talented Year 11 Jazz Band. Mr Boyd led the assembly, and gave everybody sound advice for the future. Mr Milton then gave a heart-warming speech, praising Year 11 for their resilience and maturity, having faced their most vital secondary school years in the shadow of a global pandemic. Year 11 enjoyed a moving and, at times, very funny video looking back at their TIFS highlights since Year 7. Mentors then presented every pupil with a Year Book as a memento of their 5 years at the school, complete with photos, awards and messages from staff.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Year 11, every other pupil and staff member silently lined the balconies, playground and steps, as the assembly drew to a close. As they left the theatre, Year 11 were met with joyful applause ringing through the building. They were cheered out of the school, heading over to Rew Valley to enjoy a relaxed afternoon of signing year books, delicious Hog Roast and ice cream, and the annual Pupils Vs. Staff Rounders Tournament!
We are truly going to miss our 2016 cohort; a wonderful group of young people, each of whom we believe will go on to achieve the best they possibly can.
