The new autumn term has seen all of our girls’ hockey teams in action.
The U15 girls played against Portsmouth High School in their first fixture and came home with a 2-0 victory! The following week, they made the long journey down to Bryanston School in Dorset for a fiercely competitive fixture that ended in a 5-1 win for Bryanston.
Our U16 girls travelled to Dorset to play Canford School in the under-16 National Plate. It was a really close affair, with TIFS missing out 0-1 after an injury to one of our TIFS players shortened the game.
Our U14 girls played an A and B, 7-a-side fixture, away against Portsmouth High School with a close 2-1 win for the A team and a resounding 8-1 victory for the B team.
Our U12/13 girls had an enjoyable trip to Lord Wandsworth College on Saturday 3rd October. They hosted a Hockey festival with over 20 teams taking part. With the focus on enjoyment and playing as many games as time would permit, both TIFS teams played well and suffered only one defeat all morning.
Our U13 girls Hockey team continued the tradition of resilience and strength shown this term, following their game in Southampton for the Hampshire Schools Trophy Competition. The girls’ team made the short trip across the Solent to Trojans Hockey Club in Southampton last week. It was a very damp day with driving rain but the girls were undeterred by the dismal weather and played their best hockey in a 1-0 win over Ryde School. This was continued into the second match against Boundary Oak, where their other 1-0 score took place. What followed were three very frustrating draws: 2-2 versus Thornden, 0-0 versus Farleigh and 1-1 in their final match with Portsmouth High School. At the end of the pool stages, TIFS narrowly lost out on a semi-final spot despite remaining undefeated for the entire competition. All the girls played some wonderful hockey in pretty challenging conditions and are looking forward to their next fixture at Walhampton school.
We are very proud of all of our Girls Hockey teams at TIFS for their effort and successes so far this term. We have included some of their highlights and look forward to seeing what their upcoming fixtures have in store for them!
