Following on from their wonderful victory in Round 1, TIFS travelled to Churchers

College, Petersfield for their Round 2 match.

It was a late afternoon start under lights against one of Hampshire’s finest teams but the TIFS girls were up for the game and determined to do their very best.

In a somewhat physical and fast paced game the margins for error were very slim and

despite pressure from TIFS with superb interplay, it was Churchers who took the lead from a

break-away goal. However, the goal only seemed to galvanise the TIFS team and the rest of

the first half was a wave of TIFS attacks, creating numerous chances but unfortunately no

Equaliser.The second half was as frantic as the first. TIFS hit the post and had several short -corner opportunities denied by a resolute Churchers defence. Meanwhile any incursions by

Churchers were swiftly dealt with by the TIFS team, whose defence also held firm. A last-minute

short corner for TIFS was the final chance but a goal bound strike was superbly cleared off

the line and Churchers had won 1-0.

An amazing game had finished but the girls could hold their heads-up high knowing that

they had given everything and pushed Churchers very, very close.

TIFS now drop into the National Plate competition and await a trip to Devon in the next

round!!
