The TIFS team took the long road to Eastbourne to play Eastbourne College in the first round of the Under 16 National Cup on 29th September 2022. The team was made up with a mix of year 8/9 and 10 players some of who were playing in their first 11-a-side match.
The game started very evenly with both teams having few chances but it was finally Eastbourne who took the lead and the score remained 0-1 until the final minute of the first half when Eastbourne scored from a short-corner.
After a rousing half time team talk the TIFS girls really took the game to Eastbourne and created several opportunities but started to tire and the numerical advantage of Eastbourne ‘s large squad saw them score 3 quick goals in the last 8 minutes.
This was a wonderfully encouraging performance from the team and we are looking forward to the next round of the plate competition against St.Theresa’s, in Uffingham on 25th November.
