TIFS entered a team in the recent U13 girls’ County round of the National IN2 Hockey Competition at Southampton Sports Centre. There were 16 schools from all across Hampshire aiming to represent the County at the South Finals after Christmas.

TIFS began well with a 0-0 draw versus Lord Wandsworth College, they then lost 0-3 to St.Neots to set up a must win game against Embley Park. The TIFS team worked incredibly hard to secure a 1-0 victory and a place in the Quarter Finals. There was nothing easy about their quarter final clash with KES Southampton (the eventual winners) and the TIFS team did all they could but eventually lost by the narrowest of margins, 0-1.

TIFS were now playing for 5th-8th place and faced Ballard School. This was end to end but nothing, not even extra time, could separate the teams so it went to penalties. TIFS held their nerve to secure a 2-0 victory and a last match versus Churchers College to decide 5th/6th place. Tiredness set in and the very strong Churchers were the eventual winners. The TIFS team should be very proud of their performance on the day against the top schools in the County.

“I am so proud of this team and know how much they have learnt this season to grow together. To finish 6th in this competition is an amazing testament to their work ethic and commitment to hockey” – Mr Milton.
