On Tuesday, our U13 Girls Hockey team travelled to Southampton to compete in the County round of the IN2 Hockey National competition. It has always attracted all the best Hockey schools from around Hampshire and this year was no different. 16 teams participated in Pools of four with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals.

TIFS had been drawn in a challenging Pool, but the team played exceptionally well in their

first game to finish with a 0-0 draw against Lord Wandsworth College. Resolute defending and great goalkeeping ensured TIFS stayed in the match, while also creating several scoring chances themselves, but just could not find the back of the net.

Next up was an end-to-end thriller versus Bedales School, which also ended in a draw but

this time, the score line was 2-2. Two fantastic goals by TIFS were equalled by two good goals from Bedales. So undefeated the team played their last Pool game and unfortunately lost 0-1 to Embley Park School, despite having chances. The girls sadly missed out on a quarter-final place by the closest of margins.

In the classification matches TIFS then lost 2-3 to Walhampton School before finishing on a

really positive note with a 0-0 draw against Farnborough Hill School.

Collectively the group played some fantastic hockey and worked so well together as a

team, which will prove to be highly beneficial in their other upcoming fixtures this term.
