On Tuesday morning, the U13 Girls Cricket Team had a bright and early start, meeting at 6am in order to catch the 6:30am ferry. The team, accompanied by Mr Milton and Miss Antwiss, traveled to Cheltenham in Gloucestershire to compete in the Indoor Cricket Regional West of England Finals.
Their first match vs Redmaids’ High School from Bristol could have gone either way, and remained very close up to its conclusion. TIFS came up short, scoring 83 all out, as opposed to Redmaids’ who made 99/4.
The next opponents for the TIFS girls were Millfield from Somerset who were a completely different opposition and made the team work very hard to reach 49 all out, Millfield scored 121/1.
The TIFS girls were determined to turn things around and in their third game versus Newton Abbot College, Devon, they did exactly that in empathic style. Scoring a huge 104/4, the TIFS girls’ dismissed Newton Abbot for 60 all out whilst displaying some wonderful bowling, fielding and great teamwork which resulted in 3 run outs.
TIFS finished the tournament with their heads held high and learnt so much in preparation for the outdoor season, the Year 7’s in the team are looking forward to having another go next year.
Well done to the TIFS team for their best efforts and conduct throughout the day. Also, thanks to Miss Antwiss and Mr Milton for accompanying the team on their travels and supporting them in the event.
