Team B: TIFS 0 – 2 Ryde School

Following on from their success at Lord Wandsworth College last weekend, the U13 girls’ hockey team entertained Ryde School in a home fixture on Saturday.
The A team started positively but were put under immediate pressure by Ryde. This frenetic start initially put TIFS on the back foot, but resolute defending by Maddie M-H and Ali E calmed things down and TIFS began to control the game.It was not long before TIFS were awarded their first penalty, dispatched by the team captain Emmeline B to give TIFS a 1-0 lead. Goalkeeper Jarrison S was forced into making a spectacular save, and then excellent passing saw further goals from Emmeline and KC-Leigh. securing a pleasing 3-0 victory for TIFS. Ellie A was voted player of the match.

The B team started well with some great passing, however a player from the the opposing team intercepted the ball and scored to give Ryde an early lead. The game became very close with both teams having numerous chances to score, but TIFS were just unable to close the gap. Finally as TIFS pushed for an equaliser, they were left short in defence and succumbed to a second goal which saw the game finish 2-0 in favour of Ryde. Skye L was voted player of the match.

Mr Milton was immensely proud of the performance by both teams, who are now looking forward to playing Dorset House and Priory Schools this coming Thursday at Rew Valley Sports Centre.
