On Wednesday the 20th of July, The Island Free School held our first ever Wimbledon tournament. 48 Year 7 and 51 Year 8 pupils took part in the all-day event and most of them were playing on full court for the first time.

All pupils gave an excellent performance throughout the day trying to knock out their opponent, to try and get through to the next round. After a hot day of tennis Oliver C came first in the Year 8 boys by narrowly defeating Max N. Year 8’s Ella P came out on top, beating a valiant effort from Connie W. Year 7’s Tomas T beat Joe A, followed by the Year 7 girl’s final winner Emmeline B who came out on top over KC Leigh.

Overall it was a very fun day and all of the students enjoyed themselves and showed a real enthusiasm for tennis.
