On Monday 13th June, The Island Free School Golf Championship was played at Ventnor Golf Club using the Stableford format.

The five competitors, picture below, played extremely well, with competitive spirit and great sportsmanship, complimenting each other on good shots.

Noah B-P started off very well, as did Harrison B who roared into a lead he would hold until the final 3 holes. Callum C played consistently well, and Cameron H used his excellent driving to score consistently. The eventual winner Max S-P started slowly, but built up a head of steam and closed in on Harrison with 3 holes to play.

On the penultimate hole, Max hit a wonderful recovery wedge shot on the long par 5 to 4 feet and holed the putt to take the lead. On the final hole, Harrison had a long putt to take the match into extra holes, but it just didn’t have the legs to reach the hole, and Max closed out the victory to become the inaugural champion.
