The Island Free School summer show

The inaugural Island Free School Summer Show was held on 23rd July in a marquee on the lower field. Students had been given plants (lobelia and petunia) several months ago along with a schedule of classes for baking and craft entries, growing vegetables, fruit and flowers.

The students worked very hard to produce over 660 amazing entries that were judged by judges from the Chale Show. The results were as follows;

Most points in produce (vegetables, fruit and flowers): Mia Basile
Most points in baking: Louis Hutchings
Most points in craft: Fay Murray-Smith
Most points overall: Fay Murray-Smith
Best single entry in show (student entry): Jake Wade for his lobelia pot plant
Most points in adult entries (non member of staff): Mrs L Hilton
Best single entry in show (adult entry): Mrs M Blakely

The children have been recommended to enter their pot plants in the novice plants section, as well as the classes for their age groups.
Thank you to parents who have supported their children to produce entries. We are grateful to the Chale Show for coming to judge.

Mrs Walker said ‘The Summer Show has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to show their skills. I have been looking forward to this and I am so proud of our students’ achievements. I would also like to extend my thanks to the staff who have worked tirelessly to help today to ensure it has been a great success.’
