Today, The Island Free School welcomed Henry Owen- Gymnastics Welsh Champion and Olympic hopeful. Students walked to our sports hall and began the morning with a challenging gymnastics fitness course with Mr Owen.

After the intensive fitness challenge, Mr Owen gave a wonderful talk of what it’s like being a professional athlete and the importance of living a healthy, balanced life as well as talking to the pupils about the dedication required to meet your goals.

After the fitness challenge, Mr Owen returned to the school with us and was interviewed by The Island Free School Radio team. All together our Pupils raised an incredible £1360.85 – Beating last years record by over 100 pounds in aid of Sports for Champions, a charity that supports young athletes to ensure they are able to access the right training and become tomorrows champions.
