On Wednesday 8th December, our very own Salve newspaper journalists took part in a virtual workshop with the Guardian Newspaper.
The workshop, called “Behind the Headlines” explored how the front page of a newspaper is constructed, and why stories make front page news.
Pupils looked at the “Five W’s” of journalism, and the importance of research and fact checking to ensure news is accurate and takes multiple perspectives into account.
Pupils had a go at coming up with a headline for a front page story, and took away skills for researching local and internal school stories to feature in future editions of Salve.
Pupils have been working extremely hard since the return of enrichment this term.
