On Wednesday, our year 7 boys’ rugby team travelled to Southampton for a rugby tournament, where they participated in 6 games. They showcased a spirited effort from a team of newcomers to contact rugby. Despite their lack of experience, TIFS players exhibited tremendous determination, putting on a commendable show throughout the competition and several standout individuals deserve recognition for their contributions.

While they faced challenges, they showcased resilience and growth during their games. Their results include 2 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses, a promising start for a team with limited exposure to contact rugby.

Standout Performances

Morgan: Morgan displayed exceptional speed and agility on the field, often breaking through the opposition’s defensive lines with his remarkable pace.

Max:  Max was an absolute nuisance to the opposition. What truly stood out, however, was Max’s remarkable tackling ability, preventing the opposition from advancing with his well-timed tackles.

Lewis: Lewis, as the team’s playmaker, demonstrated remarkable vision and decision-making. His tactical kicking and passing were instrumental in setting up scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Zac: Despite it being his first time playing contact rugby, Zac displayed immense courage and dedication. He fearlessly engaged in the physical aspects of the game and contributed significantly to the team’s overall performance.

Team TIFS’s performance in the tournament was a source of immense pride for the school. The players, despite being newcomers to contact rugby, showed tremendous sportsmanship and respect for the game. Their display of teamwork, resilience, and commitment serves as an inspiration for other aspiring rugby players. Their ability to adapt to the challenges of contact rugby, combined with their spirit, made them true ambassadors for the school. This experience will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for their future endeavors in the sport.
