The Jazz Ensemble, representing Years 8 to 11, visited Empire Studios in Newport to record a series of tracks. It was the first time in a recording studio for many of our players and they did brilliantly, recording eight tracks in total. These included jazz versions of ‘Bad Guy’ by Billie Eilish and Kate Bush’s ‘Running up that Hill’. 

The all-day recording session required great stamina from the group, as many takes are always required to achieve the best versions. The tracks are now being mixed and will be sent to us very soon. The ensemble was directed by Mr Balch with Miss King in support. Huge thanks to Mr Edgington for organising the trip and liaising with the highly skilled and encouraging team of Jim and Rob at Empire Studios.
