In a highly anticipated clash in the 1st round of the National Cup, TIFS and PGS engaged in a spirited rugby battle. Portsmouth Grammar emerged as the dominant force in this encounter, securing a convincing 42-7 victory. The match truly showcased the calibre of talent in school-level rugby.

From the opening whistle, PGS displayed their determination and skill, taking control of the game with swift attacking moves and solid defense. They quickly built up a substantial lead, scoring a series of tries throughout the first half.

TIFS players, led by their resilient captain Preston W, faced a formidable opponent. Despite the scoreboard not being in their favor, they never wavered in their commitment and tenacity. Charlie B, in particular, exhibited exceptional perseverance.

It wasn’t until late in the second half that TIFS managed to break through the PGS defense, with Dylan W (year 9) being the catalyst for their lone try, Freddy D slotting the conversion with ease. This late surge demonstrated the team’s resilience and while The Island Free School faced a challenging defeat, they can take pride in their unwavering effort.
