Students have studied the Jewish Feast of Passover, when Jews remember their release from slavery in Egypt. Pupils learnt about the story of Moses, and studied the Ten Plagues that Jews believe were sent by God, before writing and recording radio broadcasts. The best from each of the four in school are available for you to listen to.

Students learnt about Haggadah (a book which is read whilst eating the Seder meal) with Ms Travers in Art and have each completed small sections of a painting that will be put together to create larger paintings based on Marc Chagall’s Haggadah. These will form a triptych which will be entered into a competition. Rev Wright came into school to lead a Passover (Seder) meal, where students tried Matzos (unleavened bread) and the other ingredients of Passover before going on to make their own spinning Seder plates to show their understanding of the symbolism of Passover Food.

Students approached their learning with enthusiasm and it has been an enjoyable day in school for all involved.

Each term, between now and the end of Year 8, one class will visit somewhere on the mainland to enhance their learning and understanding of a religion; in order that they can share it with the rest of the school. Flavi visited the Jewish Museum in London to take part in workshops on Jewish life and Kosher food. We look forward to hearing what they discovered when they present their findings in a future assembly.
