Island architects of the future!

The Island Free School entered 80 students into the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Young Designers Competition, in which their brief was to design a mobile shop. With 357 entries to judge, across four age categories, the adjudicators described the standard as “phenomenal”, and awarded The Island Free School students with 6 shortlisted entries and 12 Special mention certificates in the 11 to 13 years category.

A huge well done to Jasmine Scott, Kara Hogg, Lydia Bryant, Charlotte Vickers, Ella Painter and Fay Murray Smith for their shortlisted designs and to Lucy Bayliss, Shanti Mayne, Maddy Powell-Smith, Trudi Boyns, Ella Gregory, Taylor Millard, Ella Whittington, Bede Revert, Cameron Tarry, Tom Watson, Joesph Marsh, and Amber Newman in receiving Special mention certificates. The designs of all shortlisted and certificated students will be exhibited at the RIBA IW and IW Society Awards Ceremony on May 1st at the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, where the winners will be announced.
