Perfect running conditions welcomed the 32 Island Free School runners to the annual IOW Cross-Country Championship, held, this year at CTK.

Bright sunshine, little wind and not too much mud underfoot saw some fantastic performances from all the pupils who finished the challenging course.
The Year 7 runners ran a two loop course with the intrepid Year 8’s expected to complete three loops of the field and through the woods.

All pupils performed superbly with notable performances by Dulcie W finishing 12th in the Year 7 girls, Jerry B 11th in the Year 7 boys, Sonny M 13th in the Year 8 boys but the Year 8 girls stole the show with six runners in the top 13, lead home by Maisie W who finished in 1st place overall. Maisie will be joined in the Hampshire round in two weeks by Mia B (3rd) and Faye MS (8th).

Well done to all our competitors, everyone was a credit to the school.
