On Tuesday 18th July, TIFS hosted ‘Identities’; an evening of performances at the Ventnor Winter Gardens. The event was the result of collaboration between the Year 9 GCSE Dance and Music pupils, with additional performances from various musical ensembles.

Choreographers commissioned musicians to create original compositions for their chosen theme idea and thus a series of solos, duets and trios were created. This was an incredible achievement for pupils in only the first year of their GCSE course.

The evening also featured music arrangements of popular songs performed by the very talented ‘Free Sound Collective’, to which the dancers performed. Year 7 Viridis, TIFS Jazz Ensemble and TIFS Choir also featured in the second half. Numerous other music groups
performed during the interval including enrichment groups such as acoustic guitar, ukulele and a-cappella. The Platform One group and the Brass Ensemble also treated guests to some musical ambiance.

In all, over 130 pupils took part in this unique event which was a huge success; it not only demonstrated the superb talent of our pupils but also their professionalism and sense of camaraderie. For such young pupils to work in this collaborative way is truly amazing.
