U13 Girls’ Indoor Cricket: Regional Finals

TIFS V. Okehampton College LOSS
TIFS V. Hazelgrove School LOSS
TIFS V. Sheldon School WIN

Having won the title of IOW Indoor Cricket Champions, our U13 girls’ team travelled to Bristol to compete in the West of England Finals last Wednesday.

For their first match, the team faced Okehampton College, who posted a modest total of 86/2. TIFS began chasing the score down well but lost wickets at crucial times, and with one ball to go the scores were tied. With no run off the last ball, TIFS were left on 86/7, resulting in a win for Okehampton.

Their second match was against National Champtions of three years, Hazelgrove School. TIFS batted first, and unfortunately Hazelgrove bowled quick and straight, leaving our team reeling at 12/6. However, resolute batting from Kelsie and Bailey helped them to reach a total of 45 all out. Despite some fantastic bowling and fielding by TIFS, Hazelgrove reached their target with the loss of only one wicket.

The third and final match was against Sheldon School, and the TIFS team played their best cricket of the day. Fine bowling and superb fielding with 3 run-outs restricted Sheldon to a score of 56/5. A much improved batting display helped TIFS post a score of 89/4 and a victory in their final game.
It was a wonderful day of cricket and all the girls played to the best of their ability.
