Girls and Boys U14 State Schools 7-a-side Competition 2023
Thursday 4 th May Tier 1 Highfields Hockey Centre, Nottingham.

The Island Free School took a Girls and Boys team up to Nottingham to compete in this inaugural competition. The teams travelled up on Wednesday and stayed overnight so that they were prepared for their big day of hockey on Thursday. As this was the first year of this competition, to be placed in Tier 1 was a somewhat daunting but exciting proposition.

The Boys played in pools of four against some very experienced and competent schools from across the country. They worked tirelessly through all their matches, learnt an incredible amount from the experience, and will come back stronger next year from the opportunities that they were presented with!

The Girls simply played every team in a round robin with 6 other teams from Kent, Derbyshire, London, Northants, Buckinghamshire and Sussex. The Girls’ team finished in an astonishing third place which was an incredible achievement by all the players and with a young team they are already looking forward to next year.
