Drama and Media departments receive competition award

During Activities Week the Drama and Media departments organised a week of activities in both school and London, with a focus on the Harry Potter films and plays.

Our in-school day included a range of workshops created and led by our staff. For the set design workshop pupils were given various locations from the Harry Potter world and the play, to create using shoeboxes and craft materials. We are excited to share that We Teach Drama awarded The Island Free School the Winner for the Outstanding Scheme of Learning in their national Shoebox Theatre competition. We Teach Drama shared ‘We were very impressed with how Shoebox Theatre was incorporated into this diverse scheme, encompassing many different design elements and incorporating a theatre visit and a trip to Warner Brothers, making it a whole, wrap-around experience for the students.’

The Drama and Media departments are really proud to be recognised for this project and they have been awarded £100 of Hobbycraft vouchers to help fund further creative designs.
