On Thursday 20th April, our Year 9 cohort welcomed guest speaker and local businessman, Charlie Panayi, to their assembly. Charlie, who grew up on the island, gave a concise yet inspiring talk about focus, and how this has driven him through his career and personal life. It was thought-provoking to hear about how Charlie had identified his personal values from a young age, and took action early to reach his goal of wanting to travel the world and live comfortably before the age of 32. Charlie also spoke about his successful career in multiple global companies, working for himself, with celebrities and, just as importantly, learning from failure. 

Charlie also spoke about peer pressure, and surrounding yourself with people with the same values as you, who you can learn from to reach your goals. It was interesting to hear how he used this to his advantage whilst still at school to take action every single day to become 1% better through learning new skills and building on his existing knowledge and talents.

Year 9 enjoyed the talk; some really identified with Charlie and had insightful questions on how to be successful. Thank you to Charlie for coming to our school to inspire our young people.
